HOW DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE GAME?: Juu, who plays Kaneki!
CHARACTER: Hinami Fueguchi
CANON: Tokyo Ghoul
CANON POINT:
BACKGROUND: Wiki Entry
ABILITIES | POWERS: Include any relevant power restrictions, so you don’t break our playground.
PERSONALITY: Upon meeting one of her favorite authors by chance, Hinami is told this: "To turn out warm and gentle must mean you have been loved and protected."
This one sentence is pretty much spot on in summing up who Hinami is, and why she is that way.
She is a rarity among Ghouls in many ways. In a world where most Ghouls lose their families early on, and grow angry and hard-hearted to the world, Hinami is an exception.
She was fortunate enough to both of her parents survived until she was fourteen years old, raising her with love and compassion. She didn't experience the tragic losses early on that so many Ghouls do, and grew up exactly as the author said: loved and protected. She's sheltered by the people around her, not having to experience the suffering and hardship that so many other Ghouls have. This has caused Hinami to be somewhat shy and reserved, as well as pacifistic in a world full of people who'd see her dead despite her age.
However, as time goes on, that shyness fades away around the people she loves and trust and Hinami is shown to be exceptionally cheerful and positive despite the loss of her parents. She's extremely empathetic and caring to the people around her, being especially attached to Touka and Kaneki, who she sees as pseudo-siblings as well as guardians.
Because of her being a Ghoul, Hinami never attended school like a human child (and even some Ghoul children). As such, she developed a love for learning, reading in particular. This is what she bonds with Kaneki over, excited when he offers to do lessons with her. Raised the way she was; Hinami actually acts younger than one might expect for her age. She still loves bright colors and drawing/coloring. She kept a diary that she wrote and doodled in.
But Hinami has shown to be more than just a cheerful teenager. She's displayed strong emotional intelligence many times, intuition regarding how people feel even if she doesn't fully understand it. She understands that Kaneki and Touka care for each other even if they don't say it, she understands that Kaneki isn't alright after his ordeal despite not knowing what went on, and she understood how badly Touka needed to see Kaneki and gave up her time with Touka so she could.
That isn't to say that Hinami doesn't have negative aspects to her. Coddled the way she is by those around her, Hinami doesn't know how to do for herself or survive on her own. She gets lonely being on her own at the apartment sometimes, and will try to talk Kaneki into allowing her to come along even though she knows it's dangerous. Still a child, she can sometimes get pouty when she's not particularly pleased with a decision, even if she obeys anyway.
And she certainly obeys. It isn't always a good thing, despite that most of the time it keeps her out of trouble. She doesn't typically assert herself against Kaneki or Touka, and it can put her at a disadvantage. It keeps her from making a decision for herself, and inhibits independence that could really help her to develop.
Despite it all, and everything she's been through, Hinami is still one of the most optimistic characters in the seriesbefore :RE hits and everything is terrible and an asset to the group. Though it may not seem that way, she provides an air of innocence in an otherwise corrupt and difficult world.
SAMPLE: one or more samples to showcase the nuances of your character’s personality. Submit at least one prose sample of five comments or more. You can link memes, PSL or other game threads, provided they took place within the last 12 months. You can also write a sample in the game or character canon setting.
INVENTORY: No world-breaking items. For living or magical beings, or anything colossal (think... Gundams...) please let's talk beforehand!
NOTES: Are there any particular accommodations your character will need? How do you propose to handle that? If you are applying for a duplicate version of an existing version, do you have the other player’s approval? Any other notes or requests?
IF ACCEPTED, WOULD YOU WANT A PLOT-LIGHT OR PLOT-HEAVY CUSTOM INTRO? Either option is a-okay and down to personal preference. There might unfortunately not be a window of opportunity for plot-heavy intros during certain plot periods.

SASAKI HAISE » » » Big Brother Hinami's "onii-chan". Kaneki took the mantle of older brother in Hinami's life quickly following her mother's death. After protecting her fiercely in MoM, he's returned as someone new again: Sasaki Haise. Sasaki reminds Hinami of the old Kaneki, back before he looked like he was in pain all the time. The change from over-protective and watchful to lenient and guiding has been a strange one, and it's left Hinami a little off-kilter and confused about the new "rules" surrounding them. She still loves and trusts him as much as ever, but his puns are...better left unmentioned.
Mostly unmentioned goes the strange future waiting for them: At home, Sasaki has no idea who she is, and had imprisoned her. Hinami knows this will eventually end in her death, but...In the end, she can't bring herself to blame or hate him. Through and through, Ken Kaneki is Sasaki Haise. And Sasaki Haise is her Big Brother. trust support affection reliability |
KEN AMADA » » » Best Friend Hinami's bestie5ever. Their first interaction involved her trying to keep him from scaling buildings, and the friendship only built from there. While Hinami always liked him and considered them to be close, January 2016 was a big turning point in their friendship. Having guessed Hinami's nature as a Ghoul, Ken put himself at risk and in great pain to feed a starving Hinami. It was the first time she'd ever had a human known about her, and especially the first time one had ever accepted her.
It was this that really deepened Hinami's trust for him, and increased her curiosity about humans even more. He's also, aside from Sasaki, the first one Hinami turns to during times of struggle. If she needs a shoulder to cry on or doesn't understand how to navigate social cues and niceties, he's always there. trust support affection reliability |
GRAN » » » New Friend Introduced to Hinami at the Faire by Ken, and now a classmate at school.
He put stars in her hair within five minutes of meeting her and dangit, she's finding a way to marry this weird alien boy. trust support affection reliability |
Yuuto Kidou » » » New Friend...? Introduced to Hinami at the Faire by Ken, and now a classmate at school.
He was straightfoward about being aware of what Hinami was because of her post, and Hinami appreciated that. He asked some good questions and let her know he'd be wary, but...Hinami really hopes they can become friends. trust support affection reliability |

OPT-OUT
the subject matter in tokyo ghoul is hardly family friendly. it includes violence, gore, blood, cannibalism, body horror, etc. this sort of thing isn't for everyone and that's understandable.
hinami is a ghoul, a being who cannibalizes humans for food. because it's possible that one or more of these subjects may come up in conversation with Hinami (whether in brackets or spoken), i'd like to give everyone the chance to opt out. this can either pertain to opting out of any mentions of the previously mentioned subject matter, or opt-ing out of contact with Hinami completely.
for the comfort and privacy of others i'm going to keep the comments screened. i completely understand the desire to avoid these subjects, and there won't be any hard feelings or judgement for doing so.
